The FPM Department at JIMS, Rohini organized a Research Scholar’s Meet on 30th July’2022 at the campus with the motive to bring all the research scholars under one roof so that they can share their research learnings & experiences with each other. Our research scholar, Ms. Rashika Malik anchored the entire event. Dr. Neelam Dhall, Dean (Research & Development) JIMS. Dr. Sharma delivered a one-hour Research Talk on the topic-‘How to write quality research papers for publication in renowned journals’. Moving forward, the next activity of the event was ‘Experience Sharing by Senior Research Scholars’. As part of this activity, some of our senior scholars, namely- Mr. Himanshu Goel, Ms. Disha Garg and Ms. Rashika Malik beautifully shared their research experiences in the FPM journey and disseminated their learnings to the junior scholars

FPM Department recently initiated a 'Research Talk Series' with the objective to connect JIMS fraternity with the experts in the research domain. The first lecture of this series, on the topic- ‘Demystifying Research - Conception & Implementation’ was held on 2nd July 2022 at the campus. The key resource person for the session was Dr. Anubhuti Dwivedi, Director, EdMaestro Private Limited

FPM Department organized Research Scholar’s Meet on 30th July’2022

Numerous topics that Dr. Anubhuti discussed during the session included problem identification, designing research framework, framing research objectives & hypotheses, literature review writing & gap finding, measurement & scaling, univariate & multivariate analysis techniques and the upcoming qualitative research techniques, etc. Getting answers to pertinent questions like -why research is given importance, what is the purpose of research, why qualitative research is gaining importance, why research papers get desk-rejected, how to know what to research on, how to select the right journal for research publication etc. brought so much clarity in the minds of researchers and faculty members. The lecture was quite interactive as the participants raised lot of queries pertaining to their respective research domains all through the session.

The FPM Department at JIMS, Rohini organized a three-day FDP on ‘Qualitative Research Methodology: Foundations and Data Analysis’ from 18th-20th May’2022 at its campus. The key resource persons for the FDP were Dr. C.S. Sharma, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University and Dr. H.K. Dangi, Professor, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. About thirty participants including faculty members and research scholars attended the program.

Day 1: 18th May 2022
Dr. Sharma started the session with the basics of research. He talked about the motivation behind doing research and asked the participants to share their motivations behind doing research. He then talked about the philosophical background of research and briefed about the three schools of thought – Traditional, Modern, and Pre Modern view. Thereafter, Dr. Sharma discussed about epistemology and ontology of qualitative research. Moreover, he explained the difference between constructivism and interpretivism. Later, he explained the usage of these philosophical theories in research. Dr. Sharma concluded the session by discussing the Grounded theory of research.

Day 2: 19th May 2022
The second day of FDP started with the discussion on interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) by Dr. C. S. Sharma. He also conducted a brief exercise wherein participants gained hands-on experience of manually identifying codes, categories, themes and concepts from qualitative data. The second session was conducted by Dr. H. K. Dangi wherein he described how to conduct the qualitative research through NVivo software and differentiated the manual and mechanical experiences of qualitative research. Further, he gave an overview of the NVivo software and explained in detail its features and their usage. In the last session, he discussed how to conduct the content analysis using NVivo software.

Day 3: 20th May 2022
All three sessions on Day 3 were conducted by Dr. H.K. Dangi. He started the first session by explaining Thematic Analysis through various examples and then demonstrated it using NVivo software. Later, he conducted a practice session for participants to gain practical experience on thematic analysis using the software. In the second and third sessions, Dr. Dangi followed the same approach while explaining Sentiment Analysis and Image Analytics with NVivo software. The FPM department organised a two-week online Faculty Development Programme on “Skill Enhancement for Effectiveness in Teaching” for their Research Scholars from 1-15 June, 2020. The FDP intended to enhance the teaching skills of the research scholars and familiarize them with different teaching pedagogies. In total twenty sessions by eighteen faculty members were conducted. Overall, the FDP was highly appreciated by the scholars as they had so much to take along with them from each session.

Research scholars benefitted through AICTE approved Short Term Training Program-I & II on ‘Decision Making using Data Analysis’ in the month of August, September & October, 2020. The sessions were conducted by renowned guest speakers-Dr. H.K. Dangi, Mr. O.P. Sharma, Mr. Saurabh Agarwal & Dr. A.K. Chauhan. Our in-house faculty, Dr. N.P. Singh also took few sessions.

Scholars also got the opportunity to attend one-day MDP on ‘Data Analysis using R’ conducted by Mr. Sunny Seth, our in-house faculty in the month of December, 2020.

FPM department recently organized expert faculty sessions on ‘How to write a Good Research Proposal’ for research scholars on 26th March’2021. The key resource persons who took the sessions were Dr. Kirti Sharma, Faculty, Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon and Dr. Deep Shree, Faculty, Delhi Technological University(DTU), Rohini. Both the resource persons shared their insights related to identification of research topic, review of literature, theoretical underpinning, formulation of conceptual framework, research methodology and other important elements of a research proposal. Towards the end, scholars were in all praise for the invaluable learnings they had acquired during both the sessions.
