Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Rohini campus organized its Annual IT Symposium, TechBYTE 2014 on 1th November,2014 at PHD Chambers of Commerce, Khel Gaon, Delhi. Faculties from other GGSIP university affiliated colleges attended this symposium along with JIMS IT faculties and MCA students. The Department of Information Technology organizedthis event with entire zeal and zest and made it a grand success.
The Symposium titled “Challenges for IT professionals in new age of Technologies” spin around the following blooming technologies:
Renowned personalities from IT industry graced the event with their presence. The Chief Guest and guest of honor of the day was Mr. B.P. Mukherjee, CEO – APAC operations, Edgesoft Pvt. Ltd. And Mr. Ashish Mittal, Founder – Turning Ideas respectively. The Keynote Speaker for Inaugural session was Ms. Poonam Budhiraja, Principal Consultant - TCS. Ms. Mahima Gupta and Ms. Ankita Chopra did Ice-breaking ceremony and introduced JIMS and IT department to the audience. The symposium began with lightening of Lamp and remembering the goddess of knowledge, Maa Saraswati through Saraswati Vandana in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) V.B. Aggarwal, Director(Info Tech)-JIMS and venerated guests.
Prof. (Dr.) V.B. Aggarwal welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of honor and Keynote Speaker on behalf of JIMS fraternity and motivated the faculty and students with his enlightening speech. Prof. V. B. Aggarwal quoted that present era is an amazing time to gointo COMPUTING with unprecedented opportunities and COMPUTING as a noun coversall aspects of InfoTech including hardware, software, Internet, Networking, BigData and cloud solutions. He also discussed the innovations in Hardware industry and the needs for more speed, more capacity, more data, more facilities to common man and highlighted that the hardware industry is the driving force behind software Industry,which includes software products, solutions, services and technical support. He also gave a slogan ” Long live software industry” which was applauded by the audience. The session was then presided over by respectable Chief Guest, Mr. B.P. Mukherjee and then by Guest of honor, Mr. Ashish Mittal. Mr. B.P. Mukherjee quoted in his speech that today’s world is Apple simple, FB connected and Google Age. Facebook has transformed the world socially and tomorrow’s world will have SMAC(Social Networking, Mobility , Analytics and Cloud Computing). He motivated students with his words of wisdom, by saying Entrepreneurship, Innovation; next generation Leadership is what is required by the people in today’s world. Mr. Ashish Mittal began his speech by setting the atmosphere into a frenzy mode by urging the students to rise from slumber and respond to his greeting call in avoracio us manner. Thus, by setting the atmosphere into a charged one, he immediately moved onto the business of enlightening the students as towhat the Industry expects from budding IT professionals. He urged the students to think out of the box and come out with new ideas and innovations along with demonstration of leadership qualities. The Keynote Speaker, Ms. Poonam Budhiraja addressed the assembly with her valuable words. The inaugural session was concluded by release of INSIGHT and presenting momentos to the guests followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Parveen Arora, HOD(IPU).
The First Technical Session was instigated by Mr. Deepak Aggarwal, Technical architect, 3 pillar Global. He started his presentation by introducing the organizations using Agile Technology which include Google,Microsoft and many other companies. He first explained the traditional ways of developing software and explained that Agile is not a Technology or a Process,instead Agile is a Mind-set. The session was then taken over by Ms. Ratnaboli Ghorai Dinda, Sr. Technical Director, Cyber Security Division, National Informatics Centre, Delhi. She started her presentation introducing what do we mean by Cyber attacks and how do they actually occur. She defined Cyber attacks as delibrate actions to alter,disrupt,deceive,degrade and destroy computer systems or networks or information. Fianlly her talk ended up by summarizing the Legal provisions that are introduced for the same which includes IT act 2000,IT amendment Act 2008, National Cyber Security Policy (NCSP). The discussion that took place was very valuable for the students to understand what actually cyber attacks are and how to detect then and deal with them.
The Second Technical Session was commenced by Mr. Akshay Bhargav, Head PMO(Govt ISU), Tata consultancy services. He nourished the audience about role of information technology in education, starting with the difference between IT digitization and traditional trends of data usage; he then explained challenges for data security during his talk. Next technical speaker was Mr. Kawaldeep Singh, Sr.Developer-IBM India who gave presentation on topic “Big Data”. He precisely explained the origin of Big Data Concept in Information Technology and described Big Data as a massive volume of structured and unstructured data that is so large that it's difficult to process using traditional database techniques. Some case studies of Big data like Wallmart, biggest American retail store,operating in all major countries of the world were discussed during the presentation. Overall, it was an enormous learning experience as, all the IT audience took great interest in the presentation and enhanced their knowledge about upcoming challenges of Big Data. Next technical speakers were Mr Aziz Ahmad, Technical Leader and Mr Vinay Khandpal, Sr. Technical lead - Aricent technologies. They both presented on “Telecom-Intelligent Networks “and all the topics that they discussed were revolved around the telecom services and how the mobile technology is enhanced in RF technology .They mainly discussed about the innovative and imaginative thinking, the callflow technology, roles of the Data networks -3G, the Architecture and Entities that are present in Mobile networks. Last speaker for the session was Mr. Sunil Kumar Patel, TSI Infotech who has expertise in Java Technologies like JAVA, JDBC, JSP, Servlets,Hibernate, EJB, Struts2, Spring 3, JSF2.0 and Hadoop Ecosystem(HDFS, Hive, Pig,Hbase, Zookeeper etc). He gave a presentation on topic “The solution for Bigdata” through Apache Hadoop: a Java software framework that allows for the distributed processing of large data sets across clusters of computers spread across the world using a simpleprogramming model. He highlighted that Hadoop is a popular framework today and some of the prominent users include Amazon – 100 nodes, Facebook – two clusters of 8000 and 3000 nodes, Adobe – 80 node system, EBay – 532 node cluster, yahoo –cluster of about 4500 nodes, IIT Hyderabad – 30 node cluster. A huge amount of data could be stored and large computations could be done in a single compound with full safety and security at cheap cost.
The symposium was coordinated by Ms. Suman Madan along with IT faculty team. The audience took great interest in the event and enhanced their knowledge about upcoming IT fields. The symposium was a huge success.
