As a part of subject enrichment, JIMS organised a session for the students specializing in HR domain. The session offered them an eye opening perspective on the changing role of HR in today’s organisations. The session was conducted by Dr. Manissha Khanna, HR Consultant and Trainer.
Dr. Khanna began by addressing the common anxieties students face during placement season and reassured them that HR careers are not confined to recruitment alone. She highlighted the wide spectrum of opportunities in areas like talent management, organizational development, leadership coaching and learning & development.
She emphasized that modern HR professionals must balance a strong foundation in labour laws with contemporary practices shaped by data and technology. The discussion highlighted the importance of behavioral competence, business acumen, and adaptability for succeeding as an HR professional.
Dr. Khanna concluded by urging students to strengthen their business acumen—understanding company culture, priorities, and strategy—and to align their answers accordingly during interviews.
The session has perfect takeaways for the students to enter the HR domain with a contemporary, business-oriented as well as people-centric mindset.
