INVESTOFIN - The finance club of JIMS organized the second edition of Strategic Simulation
on Friday, August 29, 2025, for students of the PGDM programs. The activity aimed to showcase
the team management and decision-making skills of the students. Additionally, providing a brief
overview of real-time investing and trading, as well as funds and portfolio management, to
students.
12 teams registered to participate in the competition and 9 showed up on the day. Each team
consisted of 5 members. Firstly, the teams were asked to create a distinct logo for their team.
Then the competition was divided into 2 rounds. All the registered teams went through Round 1.
There were 5 simulations in Round 1, each with 3 products: Boats, Envelopes, and Airplanes.
All products made by the teams would have the team logo. Just like in the stock market, with
each simulation, the prices of the products changed. Using the resources given to them, the
teams were required to make these products as per the measurement specifications given to
them and sell them to the product jury for virtual money. Any product submitted by a team not
meeting the above-mentioned criteria was directly disqualified. The top 6 teams with the
maximum amount moved to Round 2.
Before the commencement of Round 2, teams were required to purchase the stationery
resources to make the products with the virtual money they earned in Round 1 at the stationery
desk. Round 2 was mostly the same, but with 9 simulations that lasted for longer periods of time
and new products like cube, frog, butterfly, kiss, and wink face emojis were introduced to sell to
the jury.
The final evaluation was again done on the basis of the highest sum of virtual money with the
teams by the end of the round. One coordinator was assigned per team for the evaluation of the
virtual money with each team. Teams with the highest amount of virtual money were declared
winners. All 9 teams were appreciated and awarded with certificates.
