Objective:
The objective of the mask distribution drive conducted by students of JIMS Rohini under NSS cell and Patriotic Club in Delhi was to reduce the negative health impacts of severe air pollution in the city by distributing essential items such as face masks and to vulnerable population. This initiative also aimed to raise awareness about the health risks associated with pollution and promote protective measures and sustainable practices among citizens. The initiative reflects the commitment students make in safeguarding public health while inspiring collective action in having a cleaner, healthier Delhi, by addressing both needs - the short term and the long run.
About the Event:
Mask distribution drive was conducted with concerns at Rithala metro station on November 21st , 2024. The event began at 10:30 AM, allowing everyone to start their day refreshed. Students initiated, highlighting the importance wearing mask and explaining them to be safe and aware about the pollution levels to the vulnerable population. The task was helpful, and left everyone with the awareness that pollution should be controlled on personal level and to stay safe.
Beneficiaries were guided by the students on using face masks effectively and advised on minimizing outdoor exposure during peak pollution hours. They were also encouraged to adopt sustainable practices, such as reducing vehicle use and conserving energy, to help combat air pollution.
