The PGDM IB department has organised a Mundra Port visit in Gujarat on 10 th Jan 2025 for
PGDM IB Batch (2024-26) students.
Learning Experience at Mundra Port
Mundra Port, India’s largest commercial port is managed by Adani Ports and Special
Economic Zone (APSEZ). The visit offered a unique and eye-opening learning experience
that provided firsthand exposure to large-scale port operations.
- Scale and Operations: Mundra Port handles over 150 million metric tons of cargo
annually. It spans more than 8,000 hectares with a berth length exceeding 20
kilometres.
- Business Model and Growth: A comprehensive presentation detailed the port’s
business model, growth trajectory, and future ambitions. The engaging visuals shown
in auditorium brought the complexities of global trade logistics to life.
- Clearing and Handling Agents (CHA): Students gained insights into the critical role
of CHAs in managing customs processes and regulatory compliance, ensuring smooth
import and export operations.
- Container Freight Stations (CFS) and Inland Container Depots (ICD):CFS and ICD facilities was explained, highlighting how they optimize cargo
movement and enhance supply chain efficiency.
Career Insights
The experience broadened the perspectives of the students on career opportunities in trade
and logistics. The students learned about the roles in customs handling, supply chain
management, and international trade operations, all of which are crucial to India’s growing
influence in the global economy. The insights gained were not only informative but also
deeply motivating.
Reflections
Exploring the serene beauty of Mandvi Beach was the perfect complement to the industrial
marvel of Mundra Port. The trip reinforced the power of learning outside the classroom,
strengthening bonds, and fostering a spirit of curiosity and innovation that will drive our
future endeavours.
