The PGDM department has organized an Alumni Guest Session on 30th Nov 2024 on the
topic “Practical Excel Skills for Time Value of Money and Capital Budgeting” for PGDM
Batch (2024-26) students. The session was delivered by Mr. Jatin Kalra who is currently
working with Assistant Manager, KPMG, and also an alumnus of PGDM batch (2015-17).
The session was designed to equip participants with essential Excel tools and techniques to
solve real-world financial problems related to the time value of money and capital budgeting.
The session aimed at introducing students to proper applications of Time Value of Money
(TVM) and Capital Budgeting practices through the interplay between ideas with exercises in
Excel. Topics covered in TVM include present value, future values, and lump sum value that
illustrate how the value of money changes with time. Mr. Kalra's interactive approach
enriched the participants not only with the technicality but also deepened their understanding
of the way TVM and capital budgeting impact in the corporate world. Students found that the
session was very highly relevant to practical applications and well-insightful content, which
prepared them to tackle numerous financial challenges in their professional careers. A good
learning experience for the students of PGDM students.
