On October 19, 2024, Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini Sector 5, hosted an engaging
workshop on "Competency Mapping & Assessment Development Centers" for second-year PGDM
General HR students. The session was led by Ms. Rashmi Singh, Head of Human Resources at Mitutoyo
South Asia Pvt. Ltd., bringing a wealth of industry expertise and practical insights to the students.
Ms. Singh began with a foundational overview of competencies, discussing their various stages and the
critical role competency mapping plays in aligning skills with organizational success. She illustrated how
competency mapping aids in identifying and developing essential skill sets, preparing individuals for
various roles within an organization.
The core of her presentation and workshop delved into the concept of Assessment Development
Centers (ADCs) — a comprehensive evaluation technique used to measure leadership potential,
problem-solving abilities, and teamwork dynamics. Through real-life examples and interactive
discussions, Ms. Singh provided students with a clear understanding of how to design and conduct ADCs
effectively. She emphasized the importance of aligning competencies with training needs assessment,
learning and development initiatives, and overall business outcomes to foster a culture of continuous
growth and learning.
The session was highly interactive, with students eagerly participating in discussions, sharing insights,
and gaining hands-on knowledge. Ms. Singh’s expertise, paired with her engaging approach, made the
session an enriching experience, offering practical advice on how students could apply these
competencies and ADC strategies in their future careers.
The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A segment, where students received tailored guidance and
were able to clarify doubts about implementing these strategies effectively. The session was widely
appreciated for its insightful content and practical relevance, leaving students with a deeper
understanding of competency mapping and the benefits of ADCs.
The institute commends the success of this session and looks forward to organizing similar knowledge-
driven workshops that contribute to the professional development of its students.
