The Guest lecture by Mr. Nishant Tiwari, Head of Digital Marketing, IVORY, organised at Jagan Institute Management Studies, RohiniSector-5, New Delhi, took place on 31 August 2024. This lecture was aimed to provide comprehensive insight to students, into a well-known but hard to master concept of “Contemporary Practices in Digital Marketing”.
The lecture commenced at 1:45 pm with Mrs. Mansi Madan, welcoming the esteemed guest. With 17+ years of experience in digital marketing and having Clients like FirstCry, BabyOye, Baidyanath Ayurveda etc., Mr. Nishant Tiwari was well versed with modern day requirements of the industry in Digital space and therefore; introduced students to “Growth-based” Digital Marketing concepts. To engage more with students, he asked what students knew about Marketing and Digital Marketing. He added to that interaction by presenting a comprehensive view of what actually is Digital Marketing, beyond just social media platforms.
While explaining all the types and functioning of Digital marketing, he intelligently pushed in a curious case of the very first digital advertisement, and motivated the students to research in-depth about it and let him know their observations after the session. This sparked a curious discussion amongst the students, showcasing a sense of thoughtfulness in alignment of the session to the requirements of PGDM students.
He took the things further by explaining some typical terms of Digital Marketing while also comparing it to the traditional Marketing strategies and why Digital Marketing is at the center stage of almost every marketing campaign. With constant questions and doubts from the students in between, he went on to address even the most basic questions to clear any kind of confusion among the students. He further added what strategies are generally used in Digital Marketing let students debate on the “Importance between Getting Noticed v/s Communicating Advertisements”, which led to a lot of perceptions being put forth and Mr. Tiwari humbly corrected any wrong perceptions about the same by adding more information and past-experiences to it.
To conclude the session, he took an unorthodox approach of handing in a Case Study to every student to read and understand it to answer a few questions which would further expand students’ learnings from the session. With a few doubts and questions from students, he concluded the session by repeating his words of embracing the digital age and not ignore those skills to be relevant in today’s job market.
Overall, his motive of inspiring students of accepting the digital age and not ignoring the aspect of Digital Marketing before entering the Marketing world, resonated well with the students in attendance. Mr.Nishant Tiwari’s talk was a testament to ever-changing landscape of Digital Space & Marketing where focus should be on Growth-based Digital Marketing.
