A visit to the Pacific Mall located in Pitampura was organised on 8th of February for PGDM students. It was planned under Consumer Behaviour paper taught by Dr. Mansi Arora. The main purpose of this Mystery Shopping assignment was to explore and understand different patterns of shopping behaviour possessed by individuals of respective demographics.
As mystery shoppers we were supposed to:
1.Select any store or outlet for study from the diverse range spanning to different industries including fashion, cosmetics, and food.
2.Visit these selected stores multiple times, observing customer behaviour, store layout, promotional activities and interacting with the staff for any critical information if required.
3.Make detailed notes and observation, including customer footfall, average time spent, popular brands and products, offer’s attractiveness and staff responsiveness.
All this was followed by a class discussion in which all mystery shoppers came up with their observations and reasoning for the same. It was a very insightful discussion wherein everybody participated with full enthusiasm and broader mindset.
This assignment provided valuable information about the consumer behaviour and also the influential factors affecting their buying behaviour. It also helped us understand what tactics are applied by the giants in the industries to attract the customers. It was overall a wholesome experience which gave us the point of view from the other side of the table, having learnt various marketing and selling concepts it was an enriching experience of witnessing the same in practicality.
