The Finance Club of JIMS, ‘INVESTOFIN’’ organized its first activity- ‘IPL BIDDING’ for the PGDM (batch 2023-25) on 14th Oct 2023 under the guidance of Dean Dr. Pratima Diapuria and Dr. Monika Agarwal. The activity aimed at showcasing the team management and the decision-making skills in students. Also, giving a brief idea about real time auctioning and bidding, funds management and portfolio management to students. Students responded enormously to the event. 33 teams took part in the competition. Three people made up each team. A preliminary screening test based on broad knowledge of financial knowledge was done to choose 12 teams for the final round. The teams with the most correct responses were chosen. Team Auctioneers, Squad, Big Boys bidders, Troopers, Baazigars, Finamics, FinWise, Royal Challengers, Spartans, RM warriors, Brainy Bunch, Hostelite were the names of the final teams.
The teams launched their bids with a lot of zest and fervour. According to the regulations, each team had to spend a maximum of Rs. 50 crores on 5 players. Teams had to choose one batsman, one wicketkeeper, one bowler, and two all-rounders from a total of five players. The evaluation for the final round was done on the basis of the credit scores. The competition was evaluated by the finance club coordinators. One coordinator per team was assigned for the evaluation of credit scores and amount spent on buying the players. Teams with top three credit scores were declared winners.
Finally, cash prizes and certificates were presented to the top 3 teams. Team Brainy Brunch won the top prize, with Auctioneers and Finamics taking second and third place, respectively. The celebration was successfully wrapped up and the event was well appreciated by the students, Deans and other staff members.
