Seminar started with an inaugural ceremony wherein Mr Vineet Mathur, Chief Community Lead, iSoCIAL Connect, Guest of Honor, Mr Abhijit Saha, Project Manager, Oracle India Pvt. Ltd, Keynote Speaker, Dr J.K. Goyal, Advisor,JIMS and Dr Praveen Arora, Dean- IPU affiliated Programs, JIMS graced the dais with their presence. The session started with auspicious lamp lighting ceremony and remembering the goddess of knowledge, Maa Saraswati through Saraswati Vandana. This was followed by welcome address by Dr Praveen Arora. She highlighted the usage of technology in our lives in three basic platforms- computer, computing, and software and their involvement in technology and the adaption towards it. The time is changing with smarter services leading to increasing smartness all over the service sectors like hospitality, teaching, factories, etc. Thereafter, Dr J.K. Goyal, Advisor-JIMS addressed the rising use of technology by the statement that technology is something that grabs faster than the normal person and its learning comes from three things- listening to others, memorizing it and churning it.

Mr Vineet Mathur, Guest of Honor talked about IoT and stated that a system with connected sensors and no intelligence is NOT internet of things – “It is just – ‘Things’ ”. Connecting the device to the internet alone does not qualify to be called “smart”. IOT works always on a flow starting from senses to connect to process and then to cloud. Mr Abhijit Saha, Keynote Speaker talked about Fusion and Cloud computing environment of Oracle. He also discussed Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) computer applications developed or acquired by Oracle. The inaugural session was concluded by release of INSIGHT 2019 and presenting mementos to the guests followed by formal vote of thanks by Ms. Suman Madan, Convenor-TECHBYTE 2019.

The first technical session was started by Mr Puneet Sachdeva, Technical Architect, HCL Technologies who emphasized on the topic modern-day development and deployments. Through examples, he emphasized on the need for evolution and introduced also auto-scaling, Blue/Green development and Dockers as major revolutions in the tech industry. The session was then taken over by Mr Dhirendra Mohan, Senior Product Manager, Hindustan Times who discussed building B2B and B2C products, how they differ in terms of relationship with stakeholders releasing monetization and also explained steps involved in product management, making it easier to relate and understand by using real-life examples. Next speaker Mr Gaurav Gupta, Data Scientist, Impressico Business Solutions talked about Machine Learning and its opportunities. He discussed various problem statements and their classical approaches. He elaborated on various applications of machine learning, its feasibility and various tools of Machine leaning. Dr. Deepti Sharma, Associate Prof. (IT) moderated the whole session.

Second technical session was started by Ms Garima Vashishtha, Security Risk Program Manager, NCR Corporation Pvt. Ltd., made the audience aware about the need of cybersecurity measures due to frequent cases of data breaches. Frequent updating of software like antivirus, use of firewall, keeping check on permissions being allowed to apps are some important steps everyone should follow. Next speaker in session was Mr Gaurav Sharma, Solution Architect, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) who informed the audience about cloud computing and amazon web services and their cases being used in the industry. He also gave a brief description as to how Netflix makes use of CDN to steam ideas of users in first few seconds. Ms. Disha Grover, Assistant Prof. (IT) moderated the whole session. The second technical session was concluded with vote of thanks by Mr Devesh Lowe.

The symposium was coordinated by Ms. Suman Madan and Ms. Disha Grover along with other IT faculty. Symposium was highly interactive and proved to be a knowledge-sharing platform. Students interacted with guest speakers about various issues and were very happy being part of this knowledge journey.
