The PGDM-International Business of JIMS, Rohini organized workshop on 26th Nov 2024 and 30th Nov 2024 on the topic "Warehouse Management: Process and Challenges." The session was delivered by Mr. Nitin Dewan, Head - of International Business at AVN Logistics, to provide the students with a holistic understanding of the process, functions, and challenges associated with warehousing. As an industry expert, Mr. Dewan brought real-world insights into the field, making the session both engaging and practical.
The overall aim of the session was to introduce the students to the fundamentals of warehousing, such as receiving, storage, inventory management, order picking, and shipping. Mr. Dewan spoke at length on the importance of warehousing in supply chain management and the influence it had on efficiency in operations. He explained that the purpose of warehousing includes proper storage, smooth flow of inventory, and a business's backup. To give practical in-class learning, Mr. Dewan assigned a study activity where students had to analyze the operations and concerns of a warehousing company while filling the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications.
The classroom session ended with an interactive quiz designed to assess how clearly the students understood the concepts learned so far. Through this session, students acquired valuable insights into the process and challenges of warehousing, thereby equipping themselves with practical skills and strategies to overcome logistics issues in their future careers. It was a very enriching experience, considering the objective of the program is to prepare students for complexities in global business operations.
