On 29th January, 2024 a guest session on the topic Global Supply Chain Management : Opportunities and threat was held for the students of PGDM, JIMS Rohini, Sector – 5. This session facilitated by Dr. Mansi Arora was delivered by our esteemed guest Dr. Prashanth N. Bharadwaj, Ph.D., Eberly College of Business, Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The purpose of this session was to help the students develop a better understanding of the SCM trends followed in the contemporary global market and how it is a great opportunity for them build a career in it.
Throughout the session Mr.Bharadwaj covered the broad areas of SCM and making it interesting by indulging into the examples of Pencil, Boeing 787, electronic industry (Apple) and the Global Supply Chain Management of Walmart USA that generates $600 billions. These references helped student understand the wide requirements and available in this industry for them.
Talking about the challenges faced in this field Dr.Prashanth , shared with the students how McDonald’s faced several tough circumstances when they started their venture in Australia. He also emphasized how the unexpected situations like Pandemic disrupted the global supply chain industry and brought it to a stand still. Whereas in the same lockdown how the Clorox Conundrum took place and brought around 900% surge in their demand in market, which showed the possibility of turning challenges into opportunities. Just like how India has the potential to become one among world leaders of the Global Supply Chain by tackling some points like developing more ports as distribution centers.
To Conclude the session Dr.Prashant also offered the student a great opportunity of a Student Certificate Program to USA between 2nd June, 2024 to 24th June, 2024 which comprise of 80 hours worth of Education, Industry Exposure and Fun. This brought the excitement to the students and they were eager to be a part of more such insightful events.
